What drives me in making music is the steady need of self-expression. Making a statement to myself and others, digging out emotions I haven‘t had before and entertaining these by translating them into sound are the things that feed my musical passion. Drums were the instrument of choice since I have been a kid.

Help me bring my debut EP to life!
The final steps
Hello, my name is Kororo. I’m a drummer and musician based near Utrecht, and I’m delighted to tell you that the time has finally come.
I’ve composed, arranged, played, conducted, hit record, and finally sent all the sound through the circuits of a mixing console. What came out the other end? My very own EP*.
A milestone on my journey to becoming a professional musician, and hopefully one for you as music lovers too.
But there’s still a bit of work to be done before the EP can be released.
This involves handing the music over to a mastering engineer, paying all the sound engineers and musicians fairly, and ordering the CDs.
To achieve this without going bankrupt, I need your support. With your help, this EP can be released this summer!

The background
I had just arrived in the Netherlands to study music when I wrote the music for this EP. A strange experience; especially as I had never before spent so much time in a foreign country for such a specific purpose.
It was autumn 2022 and the world had only just managed to free itself from the grip of the great coronavirus pandemic. Yet the next crises were already looming on the horizon, filling the air with a biting scent of alienation.
A feeling that cried out to be captured, though at the time words seemed rather inappropriate to me.
So I decided to write purely instrumental music and let the sound speak for itself. In doing so, I tried to paint a picture of those sensations that had so inevitably taken hold of me: alienation and dissociation.
Translated into English, ‘Entfremdung’ means ‘alienation’. From this term, a vivid image of such an alien formed in my mind’s eye, and I imagined what it might be like to slowly transform into an extraterrestrial being.
But since the word ‘alienation’ describes for me a mental experience far more than a physical one, I tried to reshape my narrative into a story of spiritual possession. The takeover of one’s own consciousness by an extraterrestrial force and the question of what such a thing might sound like.
This alien force is to be seen as a contrast to all our innermost human values. Such as hope, compassion, respect for life and the preservation of our earthly roots.
Even though I find it increasingly difficult to rediscover these in our modern society. But perhaps this is also one of the reasons why I wrote this music in the first place.
My intention is to take the listener on a journey. A journey through different worlds. From our human origins to our scattering into the vastness of space. A place where questions may arise. Questions such as “Who was I?”, “Who have I become?” and “Who do I want to be?”
